Praying Mantis

Sep 7 2024

A sculpture of an insect. Due to its vague details, it is difficult to identify exactly what insect it represents. The sculpture has a large, triangular head with a beak-like snout and mandibles. Also, the sculpture has two spiked, grasping forelegs (“raptorial legs”) which are used to securely catch and hold preys. Perhaps this may be a praying mantis. The color of the jade is yellow, but aging changed some colors.
