Some jade artifacts from the Hongshan culture feature carvings of both dragons and phoenixes, which have also been found at the Niuheliang site. The depictions of dragons and phoenixes are not significantly different from each other and are considered to be of equal status. This suggests that the dragon and phoenix originated around the same time and are likely interconnected.
